Moonshine and whiskey manufacturer Ole Smoky Distillery has initiated the production of hand sanitiser in the midst of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

This new alcohol-based hand sanitiser is being produced by the company associates who have been affected by the closing of distillery to visitors.

The company will begin the distribution of the new product based on prioritised requests from local law enforcement agencies and first responders.

Ole Smoky Distillery founder Joe Baker said: “One of the greatest needs right now is to take care of our East Tennessee local police and sheriff departments, as well as first responders, as they continue their work, while needing protection from this virus.”

Cocke County Sheriff’s Department, White Pine Police Department, Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and their workers at the county jail and courthouse will be the first to receive Ole Smoky hand sanitiser in 5gal commercial grade pails.

In addition, smaller 50ml jars of hand sanitiser are also being produced by the company for its employees and their families.

Starting from next week, Ole Smoky also intends to offer the product to consumers through internet orders.

The pickup option will also be available at the company’s Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Distilleries.

Commenting on the new development, Ole Smoky Distillery CEO Robert Hall said: “With our new online ordering platform, consumers can order directly from our distilleries, pay online, and schedule the pickup of their favorite Ole Smoky Moonshine and Whiskey products. With each purchase, we will include a free jar of our hand sanitiser.”
