Global beverage maker Coca-Cola and Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) have completed the transition of AB InBev’s majority interest in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA).

The transition was completed following approval from the South African Government and competition authorities on several conditions.

With completion of the transition, the Coca-Cola Company has now become a controlling shareowner of CCBA, which is reported to be the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the country.

At present, both parties are in the process of finalising the conditional agreement, where the Coca-Cola Company will be involved in acquiring AB InBev’s interest in bottling operations located in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, El Salvador, and Honduras.

"The Coca-Cola Company has now become a controlling shareowner of CCBA, which is reported to be the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the country."

The beverage maker intends to hold the controlling stake in CCBA until it is re-franchised.

The Coca-Cola Company noted that its process to re-franchise CCBA is open to the South African and global prospective partners, which will be selected based on various factors.

The beverage maker is currently negotiating with South African and international parties interested in acquiring an interest in CCBA.
