Scottish whisky maker Kilchoman Distillery has selected Norway’s mobile marketing solutions provider Thin Film Electronics to enhance its brand presence and drive consumer engagement.

As per the terms of the agreement, Kilchoman will integrate hang tags featuring near field communication (NFC) SpeedTap technology with its two flagship whisky bottles Machir Bay and Sanaig.

This will allow the Scotch whiskey maker to initiate one-to-one consumer engagement for education and communication purposes.

“Kilchoman will also make use of Thinfilm’s cloud-based software system CNECT, which will allow the firm to monitor real-time tapping activity.”

Kilchoman Distillery founder and managing director Anthony Wills said: “We fully recognise the importance of connecting directly with our customers and providing experiences that are informative, educational, and interesting.

“Thinfilm’s NFC solution is an ideal way to deliver this content in a seamless and simple format. We believe it will help Kilchoman strengthen existing relationships and establish many new ones.”

To manage the delivery of digital content and enhance its overall effectiveness, Kilchoman will also make use of Thinfilm’s cloud-based software system CNECT, which will allow the firm to monitor real-time tapping activity and examine campaign effectiveness.

Thinfilm CEO Davor Sutija said: “Kilchoman’s unique approach is an integral component of the company’s brand and has generated a significant following among whisky enthusiasts around the globe.

“We are excited they chose our NFC solution to enhance those connections with customers and fuel additional business growth.”
