US beverage industry saw a rise of 15.79% in overall deal activity during July 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Sycamore Partners’ $1.2bn private equity deal with Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 22 deals worth $1.3bn were announced in July 2021, compared with the 12-month average of 19 deals.

venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 13 deals, which accounted for 59.1% of all deals.

In second place was M&A with seven deals, followed by private equity with two transactions, respectively accounting for 31.8% and 9.1% of overall deal activity in the US technology industry during the month.

In terms of value of deals, private equity was the leading deal category in the US beverage industry with total deals worth $1.2bn, followed by venture financing deals totalled $62.42m.

The top five beverage industry deals accounted for 98.5% of the overall value during July 2021.

The combined value of the top five beverage deals stood at $1.24bn, against the overall value of $1.3bn recorded for the month.
