Angry Orchard has launched new seasonal hard cider expressions Tapped Maple and limited edition Spiced Apple.

Tapped Maple is a blend of American culinary apples and maple syrup from Vermont maple trees, while Spice Apple is made of fresh apples and spices.

The base cider of the Tapped Mapple is prepared using culinary apple juice and is dry in texture. This is complemented by the rich, natural sweetness of the maple syrup.

Angry Orchard's head cider maker Ryan Burk said: "Like apples, not all maple syrup is created equally. The flavours can vary significantly from season to season and depending on production techniques.

"My team and I visited maple farmers from across the Northeast to dive deeper into the qualities that make maple syrup unique, then took those findings back to our Cider House to incorporate this natural sweetener into a dry cider we'd been working on."

"Flavours [of maple syrup] can vary significantly from season to season and depending on production techniques."

With 5% alcohol by volume (ABV), the Angry Orchard Tapped Maple is infused with highly acidic apples to prepare the base cider, which is later backsweetened with the maple syrup.

The culinary apples used in the brew such as Braeburn, Fuji, Granny Smith, Gala, and Pink Lady apples are claimed to be sourced from the Pacific Northwest region.

Spiced Apple contains bittersweet apples such as Amere de Berthecourt, Beden, Medaille d'or, Michelin, and Binet Rouge, in addition to the culinary apples.

Tapped Maple and Spiced Apple are currently available for purchase until April.
