US-based Breakthru Beverage Group is set to acquire Glazer’s 50% stake in Alliance Beverage Group.

The deal is expected to be finalised by 1 July this year, following which Alliance will be renamed Breakthru Beverage Arizona.

This operation will be led by Gary Lederer, reported thespiritsbusiness.com.

"Breakthru Beverage Arizona will bring tremendous assets and provide an undeniable advantage to Breakthru Beverage Group."

Breakthru Beverage Group was quoted by the website as saying: "Breakthru Beverage Arizona with its significant operations and 550 associates will bring tremendous assets and provide an undeniable advantage to Breakthru Beverage Group."

Breakthru was formed following the merger of Charmer Sunbelt Group and Wirtz Beverage Group. In 2015, it purchased interests in Alliance owned by Glazer’s for an undislosed sum.

A leading spirits and wine distributor in Arizona, Alliance generates annual revenues of almost $400m. Southern Wine & Spirits’ Arizona business also generates revenues of around $400m .

Currently, Southern and Glazer’s are in the process of finalising the merger deal, following which the combined entity will be called Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, with annual revenues of over $16bn, report shankennewsdaily.com.

Meanwhile , Breakthru has divested its minority interests in Alliance Beverage of Mississippi and Alliance Beverage of Alabama to Glazer’s.
