Campari Group has introduced a ready-to-drink Negroni cocktail in the UK.

The cocktail is a blend of Campari, London dry gin and Vermouth Rosso.

It was created by chance in Florence in 1919 by Count Camillo Negroni, reported thedrinksreport.com.

"We are delighted to add Campari Negroni to our drinks offering."

Campari Group created the Negroni cocktail to target consumers who prefer bitter drinks. The dark red Italian Campari is the main ingredient in the new cocktail.

Negroni is reported by foodbev.com to have notes of spiced herbal aromas and offer bitterness on the palate along with sweet citrus flavours.

Campari Negroni is available in a 70cl bottle.

The bottle highlights the cocktail’s ingredients and heritage. Its label was designed by RBA Design and features an image of Count Camillo Negroni, along with the Campari logo.

Campari UK marketing director Nick Williamson was quoted by foodbev.com as saying: “We are delighted to add Campari Negroni to our drinks offering.

"All Negroni fans and their friends will be able to enjoy a perfectly balanced Negroni straight from their drinks cabinet in total relaxation, the only effort will be to pour this delicious readily-crafted cocktail into a glass, filled with ice and garnished with a slice of orange, exactly the way the Count did almost a century ago.”

Campari's Negroni is stocked at Waitrose stores in the UK and available for a recommended retail price of £19.
