Bottling firm Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) is planning to invest £2.3m in its manufacturing facility at East Kilbride, Scotland.

The manufacturing facitlity has received a total investment of £18m so far from CCEP. This latest investment will be used to build a new water treatment plant and improve infrastructure of the site.

This new plant will enable a more efficient water recovery system from the site’s four manufacturing lines, saving an estimated nine million litres of water a year.

CCEP has invested a total of £56m in its manufacturing units across the UK.

The East Kilbride facility produces more than 16 million cases a year and employs more than 150 people.

CCEP's East Kilbride supply chain operations director John McCafferty said: “With a long standing legacy of over 50 years in the region, we pride ourselves on being a truly local business here in East Kilbride and in Scotland as a whole.

"This latest investment demonstrates our continued commitment to the future of manufacturing in Scotland as well as local employment and skills development through our growing apprentice programme here on site.”

The CCEP is the bottler for The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) products in Andorra, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.

The company employs around 4,000 people across the UK and sells products such as Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Coke Life, Appletiser, and Fanta.
