US-based wines and spirits distributor Davos Brands has acquired Portland-based distillery House Spirits' Aviation American Gin brand.

Financial details of the deal have not been divulged.

The production of Aviation American Gin will continue in the $6m distillery located in Portland, reported oregonlive.com.

"Someone with a larger team, and greater resources, can grow Aviation into an enduring, truly global brand."

This distillery was opened last year.

Prior to the acquisition, Davos had already been in collaboration with House Spirits to market Aviation American Gin.

House Spirits chief executive Tom Mooney was quoted by the website as saying: "We now realise that the brand we created, and will continue to distill at our home in Portland, can be something even bigger in someone else's hands.

"Someone with a larger team, and greater resources, can grow Aviation into an enduring, truly global brand."

While House Spirits will continue to distill the gin, it will not be involved in any of the marketing activities, reported bizjournals.com.

Meanwhile, House Spirits is set to open a tasting room at Portland International Airport.
