American food and beverage company Dean Foods is planning to cease operations at its Verifine Dairy plant in Sheboygan, Wisconsin by the end of April this year.

The Verifine Dairy fluid milk processing plant closure will result in 70 job cuts, reports Fox11.

The closure is in line with the company’s strategy to consolidate operations in Wisconsin.

However, Dean Foods’ plant in De Pere will continue to operate.

Commenting on the closure, Dean Foods spokesman Dustin Cox was quoted by sheboyganpress.com as saying: "We regret the impact that this result will have on our employees and our community.

"The decision to eliminate jobs in any part of our business is never an easy one. This move does not reflect the quality of work performed by our employees, but rather reflects the need to remove redundancy in our operations."

Dean Foods manufactures, markets, and distributes dairy case products, including fluid milk, ice cream, cultured dairy products, creamers, ice cream mix, and other dairy products; and produces and distributes juices, teas, and bottled water.

The company offers its products under approximately 50 local and regional proprietary or licensed brands and private labels, such as the TruMoo, Alta Dena, Berkeley Farms, Country Fresh, Dean’s, Garelick Farms, LAND O LAKES, Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms, Mayfield, McArthur, Meadow Gold, Oak Farms, PET, T.G.Lee, Tuscan, and others.
