Ready-to-drink tea provider Long Island Iced Tea has reached an agreement to acquire the ALO Juice brand and trademark rights from The Wilnah International.

The deal includes a purchase price of 5,000 shares of Long Island Iced Tea's common stock.

Subject to customary conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017.

"We are continuing to see a shift towards healthier beverages and ALO Juice offers a product which is aligned with this movement."

Long Island Iced Tea has been distributing ALO Juice since February 2016, and has sold approximately $1m worth of products.

Through this acqusition, the firm intends to meet the increasing demand for better-for-you beverages.

Long Island Iced Tea chief executive officer Philip Thomas said: “We are continuing to see a shift towards healthier beverages and ALO Juice offers a product which is aligned with this movement.

“ALO Juice is a quality brand. We are excited that it will mark the first brand acquisition in our five-year history.”

ALO Juice is a non-alcoholic ready-to-drink (NARTD) functional beverage produced from aloe vera plant juice, which is harvested in Thailand and exported to South Korea for processing.

ALO Juice comes in original, mango, pomegranate, pineapple and raspberry flavours, with 0.5L and 1.5L sizes.

Aloe vera juice consists of vitamins A, C, E, and B12, as well as minerals such as potassium, zinc, and magnesium.

It is also claimed to contain antioxidants, balance metabolism and support normal circulation and blood pressure.
