Starbucks has unveiled plans to launch Mobile Order & Pay in the UK enabling pre-ordering of the drinks and food in more than 150 London from today.

The new feature will offer customers the ability to customise their drink and food orders as well as saves time eliminating the need to stand in the queue.

The app is expected to save ten to 15 minutes on an average to commuters and working people. In addition, speech and hearing-impaired customers are expected to benefit from the app that will get their order correct.

Starbucks EMEA Marketing & Category vice-president Ian Cranna said: "We Brits are famous for queuing, but in an age of such sophisticated technology ‘why wait?’. With more people leading busier lifestyles than ever, saving minutes can really help, so we are excited to be bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our London customers – the first to have this feature outside of the US.

"We think the easy-to-use feature will meet our customers’ needs for convenience and customisation at any time of the day."

Available within the Starbucks App, the new feature will allow customers to order from the Starbucks menu.

The orders are immediately sent to the chosen local Starbucks store on confirmation and an approximate collection time is sent to the customer to pick up their order directly from their barista.

Users of the app are also rewarded with exclusive opportunities to earn Stars with the My Starbucks Rewards loyalty programme.

The launch of the UK trial follows a successful pilot in the US in December 2014.
