Urban Chestnut Brewing (UCBC) has partnered with packaging company Ardagh Group to develop and release Urban Underdog, an American lager packaged in new beverage cans in the city of St Louis, Missouri.

Urban Underdog will be available in Ardagh 16oz matte finish beverage cans and complements a range of craft beer offerings including more than 30 products.

UCBC's president and co-founder David Wolfe said: "From a brewing perspective, we've been primarily focused on offering our traditional, true-to-style European beers (our Reverence Series) and our modern, American craft beers (our Revolution Series), but Underdog sits somewhere in between.

"Urban Underdog, as an American lager, has a wider built-in appeal than our core offerings."

UCBC’s latest initiative is aimed at expanding the company’s growing customer base. Ardagh Metal Beverage North America's chief executive officer (CEO) Claude Marbach said: "Growth in the craft beer market is being fueled by success stories such as Urban Chestnut.

“The Urban Chestnut team is creating unique offerings of quality and taste that are increasingly finding an audience and beverage cans are a great option in reaching a wider market.”
