US-based nutritious beverages maker Bulletproof has launched a new fat-enhanced beverage, FATwater, which uses fat for sustainable, steady energy instead of sugar.

The new product follows the firm's coffee product, Bulletproof Coffee, and is a blend of pure deionised water, microdroplets of Brain Octane oil, B Vitamins, and natural sweeteners.

Sourced from a potent part of the coconut, Brain Octane oil is the source of fat for FATwater. The oil is claimed to put the brain on full blast without weighing down.

"We're incredibly excited to add a product to the functional beverage category"

Bulletproof founder and chief executive officer Dave Asprey said: "FATwater's unique formula provides energy unlike any other enhanced water, without giving you a sugar spike that essentially destroys your healthy habits for the day.

"Since we released Bulletproof Coffee to the public, we've been working to develop products that allow consumers to get those same benefits in ways that are practical and convenient.

"We're incredibly excited to add a product to the functional beverage category and give consumers something different they can feel good about."

FATwater contains 15 calories and is sugar-free, non-genetically modified organism (GMO), vegan, and comes in lemon, pineapple and grapefruit flavours. It provides a hydrating energy boost without stimulants or sugar.

The new product is currently available for purchase on the firm's website, and will be available at retail stores later this year.
