US-based whisky firm Bardstown Bourbon Company (BBCo) has established a partnership with manufacturer Western Spirits Beverage Company under its Collaborative Distilling Program.

Set to begin production this month, Western Spirits will work with BBCo's master distiller Steve Nally to create custom whiskey for its brand portfolio.

The Bardstown Bourbon Company has recently started work on a distillery expansion project, increasing its proof gallon capacity from current 1.5 million to 3 million.

With plans to reach 6 million proof gallons with addition of new equipment within the current design, this increased capacity is expected to serve new customers in Q3, 2017.

Western Spirits' president Tim Livesay said: “We are so excited about the opportunity to partner with the great team at The Bardstown Bourbon Company.

"Western Spirits will work with BBCo's master distiller Steve Nally to create custom whiskey for its brand portfolio."

“With their vision for a Napa Valley type experience, a state-of-the-art whiskey distillery, and Steve Nally’s hall-of-fame bourbon making experience, we are enthusiastic about making The Bardstown Bourbon Company the home of Western Spirits’ bourbon portfolio.”

Bardstown Bourbon Company intends to open a visitors and events centre to the public this year, with an assortment of whiskeys, educational experiences, tours, and tastings, as well as an event space, restaurant, and boutique hotel.

Commercial production started in September 2016. The firm produces whiskey, bourbon, and rye for its own brands, as well as for its partners under the Collaborative Distilling Program.

Founded in 2008, Western Spirits Beverage Company creates spirits brands such as Bird Dog, Lexington, and Calumet Farm Kentucky whiskeys.
