US-based developer of fully automated molecular testing solutions Rheonix has further expanded its Beer SpoilerAlert assay in order to detect more organisms that have the potential to spoil the beer product.

The new enhanced Beer SpoilerAlert assay has been developed to detect more than 60 bacterial and yeast spoilage organisms, as well as four hop resistance genes in one single test.

Rheonix will be showcasing its new technology for use on the Encompass Optimum workstation at the Craft Brewers Conference, which is scheduled to begin later this month in Nashville, US.

The company has specifically designed and developed the Encompass Optimum workstation for research and applied testing laboratories.

“The SpoilterAlert is now the most cost-effective molecular method in helping brewmasters maintain the quality of their beer.”

Rheonix Sales executive vice-president Kenny Salky said: “The expanded SpoilerAlert assay is the simplest, but also the most comprehensive beer spoilage assay in the market.

“Combined with our new pricing on the workstation and kits, it is now the most cost-effective molecular method in helping brewmasters maintain the quality of their beer.”

Additionally, the new technology has been designed to reduce the labour as well as laboratory cost, while delivering faster test results.

Rheonix further explained that its new technology can help breweries in identifying and eliminating organisms that could negatively affect flavour, appearance and aroma of their beer.
