A new winery Culmina Family Estate Winery has come up in the South Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada.

The new winery, a brainchild of former Vincor CEO Donald Triggs, is located on the Golden Mile Bench in the South Okanagan and situated on the virgin land.

The virgin land was purchased by Triggs in 2007 and creation of micro-blocks of vines started after an extensive research on the land’s soil, water capacity and climatic conditions was conducted along with French oenology consultant Alain Sutre.

Based on the multi-bench terroir, each micro-block was planted with matching varietal of vines and multiple ‘A’-rated clones.

The Culmina’s vineyard now includes varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling and Grüner Veltliner.

Sales and marketing activities of the winery is being looked after by Sara Triggs, who joined the family business in 2012. She is the daughter of Don Triggs.

Commenting on his love for creating quality wines, Triggs said, "All of the careful study and attention in the vineyard seems to be paying off, as the flavors & aromas developing in our 2011 vintage look to be quite exciting!"

Culmina will open to the public on 23 August 2013, where it will allow public to taste their limited-release of carefully crafted wines.

The family is due to plant its next set of vines in the spring of 2013.
