New Hampshire-based Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewing has rolled out its Bone Shaker Brown Ale in 24oz cans developed by UK-based consumer packaging company Rexam.

The English-style brown coloured ale is bitter to taste with malty body.

Aluminium cans offer many benefits such as durability, portability and increased freshness while storing beer.

In terms of sustainability, cans are also easily recycled when compared to other beverage packages making it an ideal choice for packing beers.

Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewing owner Steve Johnson said there is an increase in the number of craft beer consumers, who are looking out for aluminium can packaging.

"At the same time, there is continued growth in single serve packaging. By working with Rexam, we were able to embrace both these trends and bring our beers to market in a 24 oz. can that consumers love," said Johnson.

Rexam Beverage Can Americas chief operating officer Rich Grimley said their industry experience in producing 24oz cans has helped them make the package for Moat Mountain.

"It’s a great choice to stand out on retail shelves while delivering superior recycling and environmental benefits as well as filling and distribution economics," Grimley added.

Moat Bone Shaker Brown Ale joins Moat Iron Mike Pale Ale, which was also released in 24oz cans in 2011.

Both the canned ales are currently available at select retail outlets in Maine and New Hampshire.
