Australia-based Warburn Estate has teamed up with Connecticut-based Votto Vines Importing to introduce its AC/DC The Wine in the US, following its successful run in Australia since its launch in 2011.

The distribution deal was negotiated by AC/DC’s worldwide merchandise representative – Live Nation Merchandise.

According to Warburn, AC/DC The Wines have sold more than 50,000 cases since its introduction into Australian markets, which included retail sales of over 6,000 cases in the first week of launch.

Four varietals of the AC/DC The Wine will be released in the US – Back in Black Shiraz, Highway to Hell Cabernet Sauvignon, Thunderstruck Chardonnay and Hells Bells Sauvignon Blanc, with a fifth varietal ‘You Shook Me All Night Long Moscato’ is set to be released soon.

AC/DC The Wine is sourced from wine regions of Southeast Australia and Marlborough, New Zealand.

The packaging of the wines features graphics from a number of AC/DC albums.

With a suggested retail price of $17.99, the wines are available for sale at http://www.vinport.com from 25 June 2012 and will soon be distributed through select national, regional and local outlets including featured Total Wine and More locations.

Winestate Magazine wine marketing manager Peter Jackson said traditionally all Winestate’s judging are run exactly the same as any typical wine review program.

"With over 10,000 wines judged every year, more than 60% of wines submitted are not recommended," Jackson said.

"The new AC/DC wine label is not only very clever marketing, it’s actually quite a very good wine!"
